Hey, I just bought it since Saturday (1st November 2008) after I’ve written the post about my next gen console after Nintendo Wii.

I’ve no time to write a post about it for now. I’m playing to see what I will write about it. :D

After my trial for a few days. It’s a really good next gen console. Better than I think.

I’ll write about it later, I’ve to play it a bit more. :D

Bye!

Hi fellow readers,

I decide to write this post due to I’m in consideration to get a new console. So, I research for more information about them and finally I write it here and hope it’s useful for people who is in consideration to get a new console like me.

First of all, I’ll tell you that I’ve no bias with any console and I currently owned Nintendo Wii. However, I decide to get additional console which will be Sony Playstation 3 or Microsoft XBox 360. I’m a Microsoft certified professional and can you guess which one I’ll choose?

Just guess and see the answer below…

What’s the definition of ‘Next Gen’ console?

For me, it must be a new innovative in some area related to gaming experiences. It includes ‘GRAPHICS’, ‘AUDIO’, ‘GAME PLAY’ and etc…

So, for me, I considered Wii as a ‘Next Gen’ console as well even it have such a sucks graphic. (480p -> What do you think? :D )

Yes, it have a great new innovative on game play which PS3 and XBox360 will never be able to bring to you. :D

However, even Wii is such a great console. I still unhappy with it in sometime. When I’m alone. Wii is too boring for me to play the game alone. Even I’ve bougth Wii Fit + Balance board to gain more experience game play. It still not suit for stand-alone player.

That made me thinking of my old Playstation 1, 2 which I already sold out few years ago.

So, my decision on this situation is to choose between Sony Playstation 3 and Microsoft XBox 360.

I’ve to say that XBox 360 currently have a great support on game industry. There are so many title for your experience on XBox 360. The most famous title would be “HALO” series.

Sony is going good for PS3 but to be compared with XBox now, it would be a loser on the number of titles.

However, with the same price tag, you can get a higher specification engine from Sony’s and this is a good choice as well as PS3 will stay with us longer than XBox 360 due to its higher technologies.

From my research, both PS3 and XBox 360 now be able to output the graphic on 1080p resolution. (It’s Full High-definition) However, it depends on the game which almost just output on 720p only.

So, the graphic should not much different between these two console. It’ll depend on the game itself.

GRAPHICS : DRAW

As the most highest technology has been used in both is to output both Video and Audio through HDMI cable. It’ll be draw on both GRAPHICS and AUDIO because it’s the same standard.

AUDIO : DRAW

Now, let’s talk to media used by each console.

PS3 is using Blu-Ray disc while XBox 360 is using HD-DVD.

I assume that you’ve heard the WAR between these two medias before but from now on, it’s smarter to go with Blu-Ray disc because Sony have been a winner on the next gen media war.

MEDIA : PS3 (Blu-Ray)

*Note that Wii just use an old days DVD media. However, it doesn’t affected to the great game play.

GAMES : ????

This one I can’t judge because people would like to play a different game. Some people love HALO, then he goes for XBox 360 while some people love Gran Turismo, then he should go to PS3. This is one of the most important factor that you should have to make a consideration before buying your next console because some game is made exclusively for the specified console only.

For example, HALO was made for XBox 360 only and never dream of PS3 version.

While Gran Turismo was made for Sony Playstation 3 only.

So, this factor might be the most important choice for you if you have your own favorite title.

Yes, for me, I want to play Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 which released for both console. However, I would like to play Gran Turismo over HALO as well. So, I might go for PS3. :D

Another one factor that would made you serious. It’s a problem of the console.

For XBox 360, everyone know it have a “RED RING OF DEAD” problem reside. No one can guarantee that it will never happen to you. I don’t actually know the actual reason and I don’t want to write here.

For Playstation 3, it have somewhat a Blu-Ray reader failure. Some people bought for 3 days and it occurred to him. Some people bought longer than a year and never found it.

These two problems like a myth, however, XBox 360′s “RED RING OF DEAD” is much more aweful because if it occurred, you will unable to turn it on again. But for PS3′s problem, you can change the Blu-Ray reader yourself and cost you a low price tag.

For me, I made a decision to go with Sony Playstation 3 with the reason of…

  • I fear “RED RING OF DEAD”.
  • I need Gran Turismo experience on my entertainment room.
  • I never experience a bad quality from Sony’s product including LCD TV, Laptop, Mobile phone, Digital camera, Video recorder and etc…

That’s enough reasons for me to go with PS3. I’ll post here when I bought it in this weekend.

How about yours? :D

Woo Hoo!

After I experience with Asus EEE PC for a week. Pheeewww!

Feeling very very valuable on this cheap gadget.

In this post, I’ll focus on “SIZE” comparison with another gadgets that I own.

It serve my needed for UMPC very well. Especially, I really love the tiny adapter. (Come with converter)

It can be flipped to made it smaller, easily fit into a tiny bag.

Now seeing it again, this time compare with an A4 notebook, pocket book and Compact Disc (CD).

Next, I compare to my small 12″ laptop. (Fujitsu P5010) Made a different and made my old one not UMPC for me anymore!

Next, I compare with my large screen 15.4″ laptop. (HP Pavillion dv5010tu) It look like a father with a son! :-)

At last, I compare Asus EEE PC with my old Sony-Ericsson P900 and Sony PSP.

Conclusion

I just received the PDAir case today. I’ll take a photo and post here again.

Cool Gadget!

Folks,

Since the Asus EEE PC is irresistible! I just bought it from IT Mall Fortune last week but have no time to publish here.

I’ll put the photo here but not full review it yet as I’m very busy this week.

Sorry, photo have been removed when I moved to new host. Will update again!

At two last photos, I compare it with Fujitsu P5010 and HP Pavillion dv6501tu. More detail review later…

I just have only one thing to say.

“Value your money to get one!”

Hi friends,

Everyone may demand on a portable laptop, mostly they go to buy a main stream laptop which has 12″ – 14.1″ display.

Even thay already have a smaller size of laptop in the market but the price is too high to be a portable device for general peoplel.

(Try to see the price of Sony TZ series, Fujitsu U1000 …)

In the Ultra Mobile PC “UMPC” market, before the release of Asus EEE PC. They was no one dominate the market because this market is not so popular due to the actual demand of UMPC user.

The actual demand of UMPC user is to find a secondary laptop for on-the-go activities.

Which it had to be very easy to move with, easy to use and has a long enough battery life.

There are many UMPCs in the market that support this demand well.

But the key factor is the “price”.

It’s higher than a main stream laptop.

So, people decide to skip on this demand since it’s non sense to get a more expensive laptop to work as a secondary of the cheaper one.

Until Asus EEE PC released,

Everything was changed because the key factor was flipped from “high” price into “low” price.

Check the price yourself for Asus EEE PC and with its spec, simply enough to work on-the-go demand.

So, I don’t want to wait for long to get one.

Maybe next week I’ll get one.

From my opinion, here is the thing.

What’s best for me?

  • Very slim, thin and lightweight
  • Simply cheap even I’ve to purchase an additional RAM
  • Very good Wi-Fi receiver
  • Long battery life (3-4 hr)
  • Solid State Disk (SSD), never serious about bad sector anymore!
  • Large community user (Many hacks available!)

What’s bad for me?

  • Keyboard is a little small, but it’s ok for on-the-go
  • Too less built-in storage (4, 8, 16 GB – SSD)
  • No built-in bluetooth
  • No built-in DVD/CD reader

Conclusion

For full specification, you can see at wikipedia.

For me personally, this really a great piece to fullfil my demand well. It may not perfect but well it’s ok and it’s cheap! :-)

I plan to buy a 4GB SSD + Web camera model with additional 2GB RAM and a 4GB SD card.

After I got it, I’ll write an in detail review here.

Hi everyone,

I just bought this model from Hewlette-Packard shop in Bangkok, Thailand. So, I write review for everyone as a test result for people who is interesting on Santa Rosa platform.

Before I bought this model, I’m using Sony VAIO PCG-Z1VAP which has following specification…

Intel Centrino Platform

CPU : Intel Pentium M 1.73GHz L2 512Kb

Memory : SDRAM 1024MB (512MBx2)

HDD : 80GB 4200RPM IDE Interface

Graphics : ATI 7500 16MB

Optical Drive : DVD/CD-RW Combo

I’m satisfied on its performance for using on my current job as software development. (Heavily loaded with many applications such as Microsoft SQL Server 2005, Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and etc…)

I use it until a day I found the nightmare! My VAIO gone shutdown automatically without the chance to let me saving my works. I restart it again and it work normally, then a few hours passed it gone shutdown again. (shutdown immediately, not Windows shutdown) So, it’s my time to get a new one ASAP.

I’m researching about current platform and technology on current laptop and found that the latest platform people would buy is the new one called “Centrino Duo Pro” or “Santa Rosa” which are the combination of …

1. Intel Core 2 Duo 7300 or above which have L2 Cache 4MB and FSB800.

2. Intel Chipset 965PM/GM (PM = External graphics card, GM = Integrated graphics card)

3. Wireless-N which I really don’t know much about it except it’s faster than class B/G.

So, I build a comparison chart myself which laptop based on Santa Rosa platform. When I compare the price and material grade. The one I bought is the best value laptop! (I preferred to everyone who don’t want to play games on laptop as the one I bought is integrated with Intel X3100 graphics card)

Let’s see HP dv6501tu specification in details. Even it’s not fully compatible with “Santa Rosa” as this model didn’t equipped with Wireless-N

CPU : Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 2.0GHz L2 4MB FSB800

Chipset : Intel 965GM

Memory : DDRII 667 1024MB (512MBx2) Dual Channel

HDD : 200GB S-ATA 4200RPM

Graphics : Intel X3100 integrated

Optical drive : DVD-RW with LightScribe

LCD : 15.4″ WXGA

Accessories : Fingerprint reader, Bluetooth, WiFi A/B/G, Slim Remote Control (in PC Card Express slot), 3xUSB2.0, Imprint material, Altec Lansing speaker, SD/MMC/MS-PRO/XD …

OS : Bundled with Windows Vista Home Premium in recovery partition.

After bought, I’m trying to do software development tasks on it but in bad luck. Vista is so slow when working with large applications simultaneously. I’m just open Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and a little Office suite. It takes me in bad experiences with Vista. Now, I think that I should go back to work with Windows XP SP2 instead of Vista but in bad luck again. All drivers for this laptop is very hard to find even on Hewlett-Packard website. So, I think I should wait to found all drivers before installing Windows XP. Now I’m going to get all drivers from Windows Vista instead of. It’s my good luck as I can find all Vista drivers for this laptop not much hard that Windows XP does. I can’t work for a day as it’s in slow performance. Next day I go to the shop and replace the existing memory 512MBx2 with 1024MBx2 instead of. Then replace the bundled Vista Home Premium with Vista Ultimate edition.

Now my laptop was fully equipped with the latest weapons in present. So, I decide to try again with Windows Vista.

Very impressed!!!

Now It works very well, fast and beautiful with Aero. Now I forgotten Windows XP.

I’m very happy with overall quality of this laptop and have some comments below.

Pros

- Very fast.

- High quality material.

- Keyboard layout and feeling is very good. For me it’s much better than Asus, Acer and Compaq.

- Heat ventilation is very well design. Just a few times that I heard the fan is working.

- X3100 graphics card is better than I think, I can play Pro Evolution Soccer 6 without any jerking.

- High quality speaker from Altec Lansing. Much better than my brother’s Sony VAIO SZ series.

Cons

- One bright pixel after using for 1-2 days.

- Fingerprint reader is sucks! or I’m sucks! I should swipe my finger around 3-10 times to be authenticated.

- Short battery life, on my works it last only 2 hours. When compared to my old VAIO, it sucks! as my VAIO last much longer. (4-6 hours)

- No recovery CD/DVD or any drivers CD.

- Palm rest area was not smooth.

Conclusion

It’s one of the best value laptop today with latest platform “Santa Rosa” and very impressed!

I’ll upload with some pictures, please re-check again in a few days.
