My Next Laptop, Asus EEE PC

Hi friends,

Everyone may demand on a portable laptop, mostly they go to buy a main stream laptop which has 12" - 14.1" display.

Even thay already have a smaller size of laptop in the market but the price is too high to be a portable device for general peoplel.

(Try to see the price of Sony TZ series, Fujitsu U1000 …)

In the Ultra Mobile PC "UMPC" market, before the release of Asus EEE PC. They was no one dominate the market because this market is not so popular due to the actual demand of UMPC user.

The actual demand of UMPC user is to find a secondary laptop for on-the-go activities.

Which it had to be very easy to move with, easy to use and has a long enough battery life.

There are many UMPCs in the market that support this demand well.

But the key factor is the "price".

It’s higher than a main stream laptop.

So, people decide to skip on this demand since it’s non sense to get a more expensive laptop to work as a secondary of the cheaper one.

Until Asus EEE PC released,

Everything was changed because the key factor was flipped from "high" price into "low" price.

Check the price yourself for Asus EEE PC and with its spec, simply enough to work on-the-go demand.

So, I don’t want to wait for long to get one.

Maybe next week I’ll get one.

From my opinion, here is the thing.

What’s best for me?

  • Very slim, thin and lightweight
  • Simply cheap even I’ve to purchase an additional RAM
  • Very good Wi-Fi receiver
  • Long battery life (3-4 hr)
  • Solid State Disk (SSD), never serious about bad sector anymore!
  • Large community user (Many hacks available!)

What’s bad for me?

  • Keyboard is a little small, but it’s ok for on-the-go
  • Too less built-in storage (4, 8, 16 GB - SSD)
  • No built-in bluetooth
  • No built-in DVD/CD reader

Conclusion

For full specification, you can see at wikipedia.

For me personally, this really a great piece to fullfil my demand well. It may not perfect but well it’s ok and it’s cheap! :-)

I plan to buy a 4GB SSD + Web camera model with additional 2GB RAM and a 4GB SD card.

After I got it, I’ll write an in detail review here.
